A Summer Drink with a Winter Twist

I’ve got another cocktail post to prep you for the weekend! Is anyone else out there wishing for those warm summer days with a margarita in hand? Even though we are months away from that, my guy has a drink for you. Last week, he decided to juice up some of my beloved blood oranges and made his famous summer drink perfect for winter. And it was so good.

Blood oranges have a pretty short season so grab them today and make up a pitcher for your Super Bowl Party. Everyone loves a good margarita and this gives you a great excuse to enjoy one even if it’s not a hot July day! And it is so pretty – don’t you just love a pretty drink? Our kids were begging for a sip because of the color so we juiced a few extra oranges and added a little syrup for a kid appropriate version. Check out the recipe below and get those oranges stat!

  • 3 oz Patron Silver
  • 1.5 oz Cointreau
  • 2 oz Lime Juice
  • 1.5 oz Blood Orange Juice
  • 1/2 t agave nectar  (plus/minus to taste)
  • ice

Let me know if you try it. Happy weekend everyone!

  1. You know Brent loves to play bartender too! We tried these tonight for a fun Friday cocktail! Delicious & beautiful!!! A sugared rim & a twist of blood orange rind would make it even prettier!! But no time for that tonight! 😁 Thanks for sharing!!!
